General Information About the Program

The Active Ageing Clubs program is implemented by the Kharkiv Regional Organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross and is aimed at supporting older people, improving their quality of life, social engagement, and psychological well-being. Active Ageing Clubs provide safe and welcoming spaces where older adults can communicate, develop, receive support, and remain active members of their communities.

The activities of the clubs are based on the principles of humanity, neutrality, voluntary service, respect for human dignity, and equal access to assistance. Participants are engaged in various activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being.

Key Areas of Activity

Active Ageing Clubs regularly host a variety of activities aimed at supporting the physical, emotional, and social well-being of older people.

Participants take part in group meetings and interest-based clubs, where they can communicate, discuss important topics, and share life experiences. Special attention is given to physical activity — sessions include light exercise, movement activities, and other wellness practices that help maintain good health.

In addition, creative workshops are organized, where participants engage in crafts, drawing, singing, or dancing. These activities support creativity and improve emotional well-being.

The clubs also host informational and educational sessions, lectures, and meetings where participants receive useful information on health, safety, social services, and other important topics. Psychosocial support activities, as well as cultural and festive events, play an important role in bringing people together and strengthening community connections.

Goal

To promote active, healthy, and dignified ageing by creating opportunities for communication, personal development, and participation in community life. Active Ageing Clubs help older people remain socially engaged, maintain their physical and emotional well-being, and feel valued and important in society.

Objectives

To reduce social isolation and loneliness among people aged 60+ by creating a space for regular communication and mutual support. To support participants’ physical and emotional well-being through various activities, meetings, and group events.
