The aim of the program is to support households affected by the war by restoring their economic activity and developing agricultural livelihoods. The program contributes to strengthening food security, increasing self-sufficiency, and improving the living conditions of community residents.
The Livelihood Program (Support for Livelihoods) is implemented by the Kharkiv Regional Organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross to support households affected by the war.
The program focuses on restoring or developing agricultural activities for families who have lost or partially lost their sources of income. Within the program, households can receive grant support to start or rebuild their own agricultural activities.
Support is provided in the form of in-kind assistance or targeted cash grants, which can be used to purchase equipment, develop farming activities, or restore income sources. The ultimate goal of the program is to help families secure basic food needs and establish a stable source of income.
Households in the Kharkiv region with experience in agricultural activities and motivation to develop their own livelihoods can participate in the program.
During the selection process, the vulnerability level of each household is taken into account. Priority is given to families that include internally displaced persons, people with disabilities, older adults, large or low-income families, single parents or caregivers, as well as demobilized military personnel.
Support may be provided in the form of in-kind or financial assistance for the development of livelihoods. This may include agricultural tools, equipment, or other resources necessary for farming activities.
In previous programs, participants received items such as walking tractors with attachments, greenhouses, irrigation systems, and other tools that support the development of their livelihoods.
The specific type of support is determined by the program conditions and donor decisions.
The program has been implemented in several communities across the Kharkiv region, including the Chuhuiv, Kharkiv, Izium, and Berestyn districts.
In the first half of 2026, a new support program is planned to be launched in the Bohodukhiv community of the Kharkiv region. Information about the program launch and participation conditions will be announced through local media.
