General Information About the Program

_IMG5319

The Mobile Medical Teams program is implemented by the Kharkiv Regional Organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross to ensure access to primary healthcare for communities across the Kharkiv region.

Mobile medical teams operate in settlements where access to healthcare is limited due to the consequences of war, damaged medical infrastructure, or the remoteness of communities. Teams of medical professionals regularly travel to these areas and provide family doctor consultations directly on site.

The project was launched in November 2022 with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross and, since 2025, has been implemented with the support of the French Red Cross.

Currently, 5 mobile medical teams are operating in the Kharkiv region, helping residents access essential healthcare services.

Objective

The objective of the program is to ensure access to quality primary healthcare for community residents in areas where the healthcare system has been heavily strained or damaged due to the war.

Mobile medical teams help people receive medical consultations, undergo initial check-ups, and obtain treatment recommendations without the need to travel to healthcare facilities.

Program Objectives

The main objectives of the program are to provide primary healthcare to community residents and support the public healthcare system in areas with limited access to medical services.

Mobile teams conduct initial diagnostics of common conditions, provide treatment recommendations, offer preventive consultations, and, when necessary, refer patients to specialized healthcare facilities.

An important part of the program is also raising public awareness about disease prevention and health maintenance.

Key Types of Assistance

As part of the mobile medical teams’ work, community residents can receive consultations from a family doctor and undergo initial medical check-ups.

During consultations, medical staff measure key health indicators, including blood pressure, body temperature, blood glucose levels, and oxygen saturation. They also conduct initial diagnostics of common conditions and provide treatment recommendations.

If needed, patients may be referred to secondary or specialized healthcare facilities. In addition, medical staff provide preventive consultations and raise awareness about the importance of disease prevention and maintaining good health.

Service Delivery Formats

The primary format of work is outreach visits by mobile medical teams to community settlements.

During these visits, residents can receive family doctor consultations and necessary primary healthcare services directly in their locality according to a scheduled timetable.

How to Receive Assistance

You can receive assistance from mobile medical teams during their scheduled visits to your community.

Information about the teams’ schedules is available through local authorities, community representatives, or village heads. Residents can also contact the hotline of the Kharkiv Regional Organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
